The Importance of Digital and STEM Learning in Creating the ‘Leaders of Tomorrow’
In this interactive session, we will set the scene by exploring the needs of our students in 2022, as they prepare to be ‘Leaders of Tomorrow’ across the mid 21st Century. We will share current perspectives on what STEM based learning is and its impact on creating forward looking, student centred, interdisciplinary, skills-based curricula. Teachers will experience a variety of powerful and engaging digital resources, designed to fuel a cultural shift around STEM based learning and recognise how all teachers can support this approach, especially by providing opportunities to develop key learning skills such as the ‘4Cs.’ Throughout the session a range hybrid learning methods will be considered and exemplified including, blended, flipped, synchronous and asynchronous models. Concepts and practices will be modelled and shared in immersive ways and will be reinforced by exploring research-based models for evaluating their selection and impact. Participants will be encouraged to reflect upon how the ideas covered can impact on the needs of their own students and the priorities for their schools, taking into account local and global contexts and issues.
